Six Days in August

UN Special Session on HIV/AIDS

In 2001 the UN General Assembly held a special session to to review and address the problem of HIV/AIDS to secure a global commitment to enhancing co-ordination and intensification of regional, national and international to combat HIV/AIDS.

In 2006 all countries involved in that commitment were asked to report on their current situation. Click here to see Australia's Report.

Last month the Norwegian diplomat Charung Gollar was asked to present the UN with a graphic showing the main problems in the world in 2004, He presented a set of eight pictures entitled "The Power of Stars" and was applauded for the simplicity of his idea.
